Telemundo Communications Group Monday announced it will re-group its digital assets—including Yahoo!Telemundo and holamon2.com—under a newly created Digital Media and Emerging Businesses Division which will be led by Peter Blacker.
Telemundo officials said the new division’s mission is “fully leverage Telemundo and mun2’s original programming” through custom-branded entertainment, digital and mobile cross-platform solutions.
The division will house the network's digital and mobile properties including Yahoo! Telemundo, holamun2.com, International Digital Media and Telemundo Emerging Platforms, which also incorporates mobile and licensing and merchandising efforts. Blacker, executive vice president for digital media and emerging businesses will also partner and advise the local stations in helping to “define, execute and implement Digital Media tactics and revenue driving strategies in our local markets,” Telemundo said in a statement.
“Research indicates that Hispanics over-index on digital and mobile usage,” Jacqueline Hernandez, Telemundo’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. “Such findings, coupled with Telemundo's unique original content capabilities across all screens, provide the perfect formula for delivering a comprehensive media strategy.”
Formerly the senior vice president, Digital Media, Telemundo Network Group, Blacker joined Telemundo three years ago and led the company into the digital media space. He was responsible for developing the network’s partnerships with Yahoo!Telemundo, and iTunes on the launch of iTunes Latino. He also launched the popular bilingual youth site, holamun2.com.
