TV Land ‘Scrubs’ Up For Labor Day Marathon

Network Will Kick Off Fall Lineup with Seven-Hour Comedy Marathon

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 8/25/2008 8:37:00 AM

TV Land will be putting its latest programming acquisition to work right away when Scrubs premieres with a seven-hour marathon beginning Monday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m. ET.

The NBC comedy series, which tracks the lives of quirky doctors and staffers at the fictitious Sacred Heart Hospital, will join the network’s regular fall lineup Monday through Friday at 9 p.m. ET starting Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Scrubs is the perfect contemporary acquisition for TV Land as the network continues to grow as the ultimate entertainment network for people in their 40s and 50s,” Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land, said in a statement. “The quick-wit and humor of this series definitely appeals to our audience, and it is precisely the reason why TV Land voted it the winner of the 2001 Future Classic Award.”

The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series premiered in October 2001 and continues to be a primetime network hit as John “J.D.” Dorian (Braff) narrates the everyday personal and professional challenges that he and surgical intern and college buddy Chris Turk (Donald Faison) and the ambitious yet quirky intern Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke) face.

TV Land is now available in more than 90 million U.S. homes and caters primarily to viewers in their 40s and 50s.
