Former Discovery Studios Exec Will Oversee Net’s Programming Strategy

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/26/2008 12:23:00 PM

TLC Tuesday named Nancy Daniels as its new senior vice president of production and development where she’ll help oversee the strategic planning and execution of the network’s programming lineup.

Daniels most recently served as senior vice president of development and production for Discovery Studios, helping develop and produce original programming including multi-part series, documentaries and short form pieces.

“Nancy's outstanding accomplishments and strong background in production and development makes her the perfect fit for this pivotal role,” Eileen O'Neill, TLC’s president and general manager, said in a statement. “She's a proven leader and with her direction and expertise, she is just what we are looking for as we continue to strengthen TLC's core programming and look ahead to build future hit series.”

Prior to Discovery Studios, Daniels was at CBS where since 2003 she served as vice president of alternative series development. In this role, she worked on CBS’s key reality properties including Survivor, multiple Emmy Award-winner The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Rock Star and others.

TLC’s popular documentary series include the likes of Jon & Kate Plus 8, Little People Big World, LA Ink and What Not to Wear and are available in more than 96 million U.S. households.
