Sci Fi Promotes Online Execs

Chiavelli, Jackson To Lead Channel’s Online Endeavors

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/27/2008 7:44:00 AM

Sci Fi Channel Wednesday announced the promotions of Matthew Chiavelli and Marlon Jackson to vice president of broadband/mobile and production, respectively, for its SciFi.com Web site.

Sci Fi officials said will be responsible for “building a richer balance of original content and channel-related fare,” for the site with video playing a prominent role in every facet of the site.

“SciFi.com had unprecedented growth in 2007 and a record first half of 2008, and Marlon and Matthew were a large part of that success,” Craig Engler, senior vice president, SciFi.com and Sci Fi Magazine, said in a statement. “As we continue to grow our digital businesses, they will each play an increased role in that expansion, and I’m confident they’ll both deliver.”

Chiavelli previously served as SciFi.com’s multimedia director. In his new role, he will continue to develop content for Sci Fi’s online broadband video initiatives, work with the West Coast development team to evaluate incoming pitches for TV shows that may start on the Web and drive mobile growth.

Jackson, who has been with Sci Fi since 1999, will lead development for online extensions of Sci Fi shows with a focus on “TV 360” ad sales, network officials said. He will also work directly with the on-air and off-air marketing teams on project development for SciFi.com and other Sci Fi portfolio sites.

SciFi.com attracts more than 3 million unique visitors each month and recorded 36.8 million page views in the recently completed second quarter.
