ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD this weekend will serve up 10 hours of drag racing action from the NHRA’s Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, network officials said Wednesday.
ESPN2’s coverage starts Sunday, Aug. 31 with a one-hour qualifying wrap-up program at 12:30 a.m. ET with additional coverage airs at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET. On Monday, Sept. 1, ESPN2 will provide eliminations coverage from noon to 2 p.m. ET and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.
“The additional hours of coverage lets us do justice to the many great stories the NHRA POWERade Series has,” Paul Page, lead announcer for ESPN2’s drag racing coverage team, said in a statement. “There are 23 great races on the NHRA schedule and there’s the U.S. Nationals.”
Page will be joined in the booth for ESPN2’s coverage by 22-time NHRA race winner Mike Dunn for analysis. Reporting from the pits will be Gary Gerould, John Kernan and Dave Rieff. Dunn and Rieff also host NHRA RaceDay on Sunday at 11 a.m. to set the stage for that day’s action.

Mike Dunn, Drag Racer extraordinaire;
Mike, why is there no significant talk about the Ford Boss 500 engine going on, I noticed not only Zippy has been running a test version for some time, but recently John and Robert as well at Firebird in Phoenix. It seems to me that the Ford fuel engine might be the biggest change in the drag race equipment scene since “Big†brought out a rear engine top fuel car. Since I started my amateur racing in the mid-sixties with very rare and not very successful efforts has there ever been anything except the real Mopar Hemi and aftermarket cloned beefed up Chrysler design copies of the Hemi dominating the entire sport. Now that Ford has essentially made history by running very successfully with an actual blown fuel Ford bullet I’m just curious why it’s not being talked up a lot more, especially by John for goodness sake???
Thanks Mike, please keep up the fine, fine work you do, oh Ya you too Paul………..
Thank you, Lee, at Loose Nut Ford Drag Racing Team

Will be arriving in from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Saturday night and can't wait to see the racing. Have had this planned for a while now and am anxious to see one of my favourites which is Ashley Force.
