Owing to Hurrican Gustav, the sponsors for “Political Chicks a Go-Go,” a special event in Minneapolis during the first night of the Republican National Convention, was turned into a fund raiser for the Red Cross.

RightNOW!, Lifetime Networks, Rock the Vote, and retailer White House Black Market along with other sponsors turned the late night party into a benefit for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. Red Cross volunteers were on hand to accept contributions.

The event was part of RightNOW's commitment to involving women in public policy, Lifetime's Every Woman Counts nonpartisan campaign to engage women in the political process and Rock the Vote's nonpartisan initiative to increase youth voter turnout.

Held at Bar Fly in the Minneapolis theater district, the event featured special guests country music star John Rich and the rising country trio Carter's Chord, which wrote and performed an original theme song for Lifetime’s Every Woman Counts campaign.. Rich sang "Raisin' McCain" and Meghan McCain and the Blogettes stopped by to show support.
