The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers announced its first conference in Canada, scheduled for Feb. 3-4, 2009, in Toronto.
The SCTE Canadian Summit 2009 will feature technical exhibits and workshops, general sessions, and networking opportunities, all designed to be “specific to the cable telecommunications industry in Canada,” the professional organization said.
SCTE’s director-at-large for Canada, Dermot J. O’Carroll, will serve as the chair of the summit. O’Carroll, who as an SCTE board member represents Canadian members, is senior vice president of network engineering and operations with Rogers Cable Communications in Toronto.
SCTE, which counts 14,000 members, is currently engaged in an executive search to replace CEO John Clark, who left the organization in July after 10 years.
