Outdoor Channel Launches on Sky Angel

Sportsman Network Debuts on Faith-Based IPTV Channel This Month

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 9/9/2008 7:40:00 AM

Outdoor Channel launched on Sky Angel’s IPTV channel lineup in standard definition this month and plans to add the network’s high-definition and video-on-demand programming in the near future, network officials said Tuesday.

The channel is now available in standard definition on Sky Angel’s Family Package.

“Outdoor Channel offers something for everyone who enjoys the great outdoors, which makes it an excellent fit for our family-friendly lineup,” Brian Collins, senior vice president of programming and media sales at Sky Angel IPTV, said in a statement. “We also found its key messages of practicing conservation and responsibility in the outdoors are an added bonus for educating our subscribers.”

Outdoor Channel offers a wide range of family-friendly programming, including the recent addition, Scouting for Adventure Presented by Boys’ Life, a series that captures Boy Scouts in action as they explore the wilderness.

“Sky Angel’s family-friendly line-up aligns perfectly with Outdoor Channel’s target audience of outdoor enthusiasts,” Randy Brown, senior vice president of affiliate sales and marketing at Outdoor Channel, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to bring our best-in-class outdoor programming to Sky Angel subscribers.”

Sky Angel, which describes itself as a “Christian-owned and operated multichannel television and radio service,” is currently available in all 50 states on 31 television channels and 20 radio channels.
