TV Land Will Hang With The Huxtables

Network Will Introduce ‘Cosby’ Series With Marathon

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 9/15/2008 10:31:00 AM

TV Land is moving toward filling its roster with more original fare, but the Huxtables clan will be joining TV Land’s family in a big way.

The Cosby Show will be on full display, beginning Sept. 22, with a week-long marathon of the best from Heathcliff (Cosby) and Clair Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad) and their brood.

The marathon -- airing Monday Sept. 22 through Friday, Sept. 26 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m,. and next Saturday and Sunday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. (ET/PT) -- includes such memorable episodes such as when the family holds a funeral for Rudy’s goldfish, Denise tries to make a copycat of an expensive designer shirt for Theo and Cliff and Clair have their first grandchildren.

The Cosby Show will then air with back-to-back episodes in its regularly weekday stripped timeslot of 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as 12 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The Cosby Show is by far one of the funniest and most memorable comedies ever to air on television,” said TV Land president Larry Jones of the NBC stalwart in a statement. “It has such positive messaging on family life and approaches everything with honesty - covering topics from sibling rivalry to teenage lifestyles to stereotypes to celebrating one another’s accomplishments. TV Land is thrilled that it has joined the network.”

Looking to reach the younger end of the baby boomer generation, TV Land recently announced that it will revamp its primetime lineup to include more original series.
