Cable operator Comporium will carry Ion Media Networks’channel suite in the operator’s South Carolina system, officials said Tuesday.

As part of the agreement, Comporium will relaunch Ion Television and will also add qubo, a children’s network focusing on values and literacy, and Ion Life, a channel focusing on active living and personal growth, to its Digital Basic channel lineup.

“We are committed to providing quality content to our subscribers, and this affiliation with Ion Media Networks reinforces that strategy,” Bill Beaty, Comporium’s executive vice president of  cable operations, said in a prepared statement. “Ion Media Networks has established a quality lineup of programming, and we are proud to offer their networks to our subscribers.”

The Comporium Group offers a broad range of communications services, including local telephone, long distance, wireless, cable TV, Internet, security, data services and directory publishing. Its cable TV operations rank 35th in size nationally, while its local telephone operations is the 18th largest in the country.

Based in Rock Hill, S.C., which is part of the Charlotte, N.C., metropolitan region, Comporium is privately owned and traces its beginnings to 1894.

Ion’s fall lineup is populated with off-network hits including Boston Legal, ER and NCIS, along with popular shows like M*A*S*H, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, The Steve Harvey Show and Family Feud.
