Comcast Offers Credits To Customers Struck By Hurricane Ike
MSO Estimates Service Has Been Restored To 70% Of Sub Base

Comcast Corp. is offering outage-related credits to customers who ask for them in its Greater Texas Gulf Coast region that has been ravaged by Hurricane Ike.
The company estimates that 30% of its customers in the region are still without cable service. The majority of the outages, according to the company, are due to the lack of electricity. Even a street that has power to the home may still be without video service because the node serving that address may still be without electrical power, the company noted.
Drop lines to the homes may also be damaged or broken, due to flying debris. Comcast is advising subscribers who notice their drop is down to call the company at 1-800-COMCAST to request repair.
The company also warned consumers that they might need a “signal boost” after service is restored. Consumers can call the same toll-free number to have their converter boxes refreshed, a process that will take up to 20 minutes.

Comcast said that in addition to its 2,700 local employees, more than 500 cable technicians from around the nation have come to the area to assist in the restoration efforts.
