Rutledge Gets ‘Grand’ at CTAM Summit
Cablevision Exec To Join Glaser, Zaslav, Verklin On Closing Panel Nov. 11

Cablevision COO Thomas Rutledge will receive CTAM’s highest honor, the Grand TAM, at the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing’s annual summit, in Boston, next month.
Rutledge, who oversees cable operations at an MSO that has grown healthily despite fierce competition from Verizon FiOS TV rollouts, also will take part in a lunchtime closing panel on Nov. 11, the last day of the three-day summit at the Hynes Convention Center.
Scheduled to join him on the panel are RealNetworks chairman and CEO Robert Glaser, Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav, Canoe Ventures CEO David Verklin and Jessica Reif Cohen, first vice president and managing director at Merrill Lynch.
The idea is for them to provide “a directional compass for the industry’s long term strategies in a difficult economic environment,” CTAM said. Harvard Business School professor Bharat Anand will moderate the panel.
“Tom Rutledge is the perfect recipient of the Grand TAM Award,” CTAM CEO Char Beales said in a statement. “He has set a high standard for operational leadership and is successfully building the business by delivering technologically superior products and value to customers in a highly competitive marketplace.”
CTAM highlighted another key panel at the summit, one that will bring together U.S. and international operations executives to discuss lessons learned from offering a “bigger bundle” that adds mobile phone service to the triple play of video, voice and digital phone. Participating in the 4:15 p.m. session on Nov. 10 will be Paul Berriman, chief technology officer at PCCW in Hong Kong; Jean-Marc Harion, VP of business development from France Telecom North America; and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. VP and senior analyst Craig Moffett. Hosting the panel will be Bright House Networks president Nomi Bergman.
The number of people signing up to attend the summit is on pace with past summits at this point in the process, according to CTAM officials. Last year’s summit, in Washington, D.C., was attended by 2,750 people.
