MTV Thursday confirmed that The Hills star Whitney Port will star in The City, a new series that tracks her professional and personal life after moving from Los Angeles to the Big Apple.
From Adam DiVello (Done and Done Productions), creator and executive producer of The Hills, The City will air sometime in the first three months of 2009, MTV officials said. Liz Gateley, creator and executive producer of Laguna Beach, developed and executive produces the project for MTV.
“With a great new job at global design house, Diane Von Furstenberg, a best friend from her past and a guy she’s head-over-heels for, Whitney is taking a huge chance at a brand new life,” the network said in the release. “Surrounded by all new friends, pursuing a fresh love life, and starting to work in the upper echelon of the fashion industry is a lot to navigate for a new girl in the big city... especially one who has everything to lose. In a city full of people with their own agendas, Whitney will have to quickly decide who she can trust and who to stay away from.”
DiVello, Sean Travis and Liz Gateley will serve as executive producers. Colin Nash is co-executive producer. Catherine K. Whyte is MTV’s executive-in-charge of production. Spike Van Briesen and Sophia Rossi serve as supervising producers for the series.
