DirecTV has launched several interactive applications with The Weather Channel that provide severe weather alerts, local weather on-demand and other information.
The new services, introduced earlier this month, include a severe-weather alert ticker that scrolls along the bottom of the screen; ZIP
code-specific weather information during Weather Channel’s “Local on the 8s” segments; and a Local On Demand application that lets viewers watching TWC access current conditions, five-day forecast, maps and other information.
The companies said DirecTV customers will be able to access localized weather information for more than 40,000 ZIP code locations across the U.S.
In addition, The Weather Channel is now the featured provider of local weather content on the newly designed DirecTV Active interactive portal.

I switched from Comcast Cable in Chicago to DirecTV and I am very very unhappy with DirecTV's local on the 8s. Comcast's provided much more information and I watched it a lot more because of their local on the 8s. I would like to see TWC provide Comcast's programing on DirecTV. I will definately go back to Comcast when my contract ends. I am very unhappy.

I have been "dragging my feet" about switching to "satellite tv", mainly because of their POOR "Local on the 8's" version! Now maybe I can make the switch!Q
