Operators in Canada and Chile have deployed a caller ID on TV software platform that lets them promote the availability of the product in the on-screen real estate that will be used by the product.
The latest user is VTR-Chile, a Liberty Global operator, which has launched Caller ID with a 60-day free trial, a freebie that is announced across the TV screen where the personalized caller information will appear. The on-screen marketing will continue until the end of the trial, at which point subscribers will pay the equivalent of $4 a month for the on-screen telephone information.
Meredith Flynn-Ripley, CEO of Integra5, the vendor powering the caller ID on TV functionality, said operators can use the software to communicate with customers in the future, perhaps notifying them electronically of channel line-up changes and other product introductions.
