Sci Fi’s ‘Ghost Hunters’ Goes Back to School

Spin-Off Pilot Features College Students Investigating Haunted Hotspots

Sci Fi Thursday announced that it’s moving forward with another spin-off from its popular Ghost Hunters series, greenlighting a pilot for Ghost Hunters: College Edition.

The new series will feature a group of college students, led by seasoned investigators, searching for the paranormal in haunted hotspots around the country and around the world.

Ghost Hunters which debuted on Sci Fi in 2004, remains one of the network’s most popular series. Network officials said the Oct. 8 episode scored all-time ratings highs with a 2.0 household rating, over 2.7 million total viewers and 1.8 million adults 25-54. This fall, new episodes of Ghost Hunters will include the third annual live investigation on Halloween night, this year taking place at the historic Fort Delaware from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET.

Ghost Hunters International, another spin-off that debuted in January 2008, averaged more than 2 million viewers during its seven-episode run this winter.

Ghost Hunters: College Edition is produced in association with Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films and Television. Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Rob Katz and Alan David, serve as executive producers.
