The Daily Show with Jon Stewart set an all-time ratings record Wednesday night thanks to an appearance from Sen. Barack Obama, Comedy Central officials said Thursday.
The episode recorded a 2.6 household rating and drew more than 3.6 million total viewers, a record high and the first time the show has ever attracted an average of more than 3 million viewers for a single episode.
The previous record of roughly 3 million viewers was set Oct. 8 when Michele Obama was a guest.
Obama’s appearance also generated some momentum for The Colbert Report, which airs immediately after The Daily Show. It also enjoyed its most-watched and highest-rated episode, pulling 2.4 million total viewers and a 1.8 household rating.
