NHL Network Nets College Hockey Rights
Friday Game Of The Week Package Drops Tonight

NHL Network today has reached a one-year extension for broadcast rights to games from four collegiate hockey conferences.
The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, covers action from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Eastern College Athletic Conference,
The package provides NHL Network with 19 game of the week matchups that will air Friday nights, beginning Oct. 31 with Wisconsin visiting North Dakota at 8: 30 p.m., through the remainder of the season. It culminates with ECAC semifinals and final action on March 20 and March 21, respectively.
“College hockey not only provides a glimpse of future NHL stars, but the unique excitement and competition of interscholastic rivalries,” said John Shannon, executive in charge of programming and production for NHL Network, in a statement. “Covering Division I college hockey is an important step for the NHL Network to truly become the home of hockey.”
The college hockey rights pact follows NHL Network’s announcement earlier this week that it had reached a carriage deal with Verizon FiOS. Moreover, the telco is also offering the league’s out-of-market NHL Center Ice subscription package.
