Mixed Signals Extends Video-Monitoring Suite

Vendor Adds Pre-QAM Monitoring Device and Data-Consolidation Application

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 11/2/2008 5:00:00 PM

Mixed Signals has added two products to its line of video-monitoring solutions that promise to give cable operators a holistic view of video and audio problems wherever they may be occurring in the network.

The vendor’s Sentry Verify content monitor device is designed for use in distribution hubs and other locations closer to the “edge” of the network, providing MPEG and IP statistical measurements before video is passed to QAMs. Mixed Signals this summer introduced the Sentry Edge monitor for post-QAM RF monitoring.

In addition, Mixed Signals’ Consul software application consolidates and displays data from all Sentry, Sentry Edge and Sentry Verify units deployed in a service provider’s network to help identify trouble areas in the network.

The company’s customers include the five biggest MSOs in the U.S.—Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Charter Communications and Cablevision Systems—as well as Canada’s Rogers Communications.
