Maybe it’s the season -- after all, Halloween is just in the rear mirror -- but HBO’s vampire series, True Blood, continues to build an audience.
The series, based on the Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse book series and starring Anna Pacquin and Stephen Moyer, staked a season-high Sunday night, drawing 2.35 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research live + same-day data.
The show’s ninth installment continued the upward trend of the past few weeks that saw the seventh episode draw 2 million viewers, gauged on the aforementioned metric and the eighth installment count 2.1 million watchers.
The series premiere on Sept. 7 pulled in 1.4 million watchers, meaning the Nov. 2 installment posted a 63% rise from the debut.
True Blood, which HBO has renewed for a second campaign, has also been scoring well on a cumulative basis. Officials at the premium service indicate that the gross audience for the first five episodes averaged 6.4 million, when replays, DVR and HBO On Demand viewing is tabulated.
