ESPN’s coverage of the final table of the World Series of Poker’s Main Event attracted nearly 2.4 million viewers, or a 1.9 household rating, Tuesday night.
The same-day coverage, which featured nine finalists battling it out for the $9.1 million first-place payday, was up 34% from last year’s final table coverage.
Denmark’s Peter Eastgage (pictured) turned a wheel straight in the tournament’s final hand, making the 22 year-old the youngest winner in the event’s history.
For the 2008 WSOP season, ESPN’s 32 shows averaged 1.1 million viewers and a 0.9 rating, up from an average of 981,000 viewers last year.
