Thomson Pitches Network DVR

Paris — Thomson launched version 6 of its SmartVision Video on Demand server, which provides network digital video recording capabilities with the capacity to record more than 200 TV channels. SmartVision VOD 6.0 provides total streaming capacity of up to 16 Gigabits per second.

Motorola, BlackArrow Link on VOD Ads

Horsham, Pa. — Motorola and BlackArrow, a provider of multiplatform ad-management systems, said they are working together to deliver an SCTE 130-compliant solution for dynamically inserting advertising in video-on-demand services delivered by the Motorola B1 on-demand server.

Verizon Buys More BigBand Gear

Redwood City, Calif. — Verizon Communications has signed a new multiyear agreement with BigBand Networks, which provides video equipment for the telco’s FiOS TV service. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
