Tennis Channel Names Sharapova, Federer Dedicated Followers Of Fashion

Net Network Airs 'Open Access: Fashion Sense' Special, Documenting Sport’s Best-, Worst-Dressed

They no longer head the tennis rankings, but Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer are the tops in the sport where fashion is concerned.

Maria SharapovaAfter asking its viewers to vote on the best-dressed male and female tennis players on tour, Tennis Channel will premiere a special tonight showcasing on- and off-the-court couture. Hosted by Murphy Jensen, Open Access: Fashion Sense will be unveiled for the first Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.

Tennis Channel experts offered tennis fans a list of 10 men and 10 women from which to choose. Among the top men: Federer, who had more votes than the top five women combined; Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick. On the distaff side of the net: the channel will not only put the lens on Sharapova, but Ana Ivanovic, Venus Williams and Maria Kirilinko as well. The show includes interview with players about their love of fashion, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and photos of them off the court.

The special also looks at the not so fashionable with “best mullet” dishonors going to Martina Navratilova and Andre Agassi, while Dominic Hrbaty, Vince Spadea and Bethany Mattak were deemed “worst-dressed on the tour.”
