Fox Soccer Nets 2009, 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cups
Channel Secures Exclusive English-Language Rights To Biennial Tourney

Fox Soccer Channel has scored English-language rights for the 2009 and 2011 editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The network will air live and exclusive coverage of the biennial tournament that determines the champion of the North American, Central American and Caribbean region, including the finals. Additionally, the channel has secured the rights to all matches played by the U.S. National Team, including three group-stage matches and any potential quarterfinal or semifinal matches. All Fox Soccer Channel match telecasts will also be streamed live via foxsoccer.tv. Deal terms were not disclosed.
"The Gold Cup is the top prize for national teams in the CONCACAF region, and there is tremendous national pride at stake," said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Soccer Channel, in a statement. "With the strength of soccer teams in the CONCACAF region at an all-time high, the next two Gold Cups promise to be exciting and hard-fought."
Added CONCACAF general secretary Chuck Blazer: "We are very pleased to extend our partnership with Fox Soccer Channel on the Gold Cup. FSC is well-suited to help grow viewership of the tournament in the United States.”
The U.S. and Mexico have dominated the Gold Cup in recent years, combined to win eight of the last nine tournaments. During the 2007 Gold Cup, the U.S. took home the hardware for a record-equaling fourth time by rallying to a 2-1 victory, highlighted by the game-winning goal by Benny Feilhaber from outside the penalty area in the second half.
