Summit Hits Screens Tuesday

By Multichannel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 11/30/2008 7:00:00 PM

Industry executives will gather here Tuesday to learn about the latest developments impacting TV, computer and mobile-phone screens.

The first Broadcasting & Cable/Multichannel News “On Screen Media Summit,” an all-day event touching on financial, measurement, advertising, carriage and streaming content topics shaping the industry's fiscal fortunes, is slated for Dec. 2 at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan.

Registration and coffee begins at 7:45 a.m. before the event officially kicks off with MCN editor in chief Mark Robichaux engaging Jessica Reif Cohen, first vice president and managing director of Merrill Lynch, in a question-and-answer session about the economy and its effect on the multichannel, multiplatform universe.

Other highlights include Canoe Ventures CEO David Verklin in a lunchtime conversation with MCN technology editor Todd Spangler discussing the prospects and challenges that lie ahead for the interactive advertising adventure, and a keynote address from Jordan Hoffner, head of content partnerships for YouTube, scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

The other panels on tap: “Audience Measurement and Engagement in the Digital Age of Anytime/Anywhere”; “Monetizing Content on Multiple & Integrated Platforms”; “Distribution Battles: The View From the Street”; “Policy: The New Washington Landscape”; “That's Advertainment: The Rapid Growth of the Branded Content Business”; and “Live Streaming for Sports: Friend of Foe?”
