The Mtn. -- MountainWest Sports Network, scored its network ratings mark with its coverage of the Utah-BYU college football game.

The Nov. 22 contest in which then No. 7-ranked Utah defeated No. 14 BYU to remain undefeated and immerse itself in the Bowl Championship Series picture, averaged 92,000 cable and satellite households in the Salt Lake City DMA, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Peaking at 110,000, the game’s average almost doubled The Mtn.’s count of the same matchup in 2007, which garnered 47,500 households in Salt Lake. Last season's game was simulcast on Versus, which averaged 18,000 households, and CSTV, now called CBS College Sports Network (data was not available for that service).

The Nov. 22 game also drew an average audience of 9,000 households (13,000 peak) in the Albuquerque and Las Vegas DMAs, according to network officials.

The pre- and postgame show, The Mtn. Live at The Stadium, also drew record numbers for a non-live sporting event. The pre-game delivered 61,000 households in Salt Lake City from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (MT), while an average of 70,000 households tuned to the post-game fare from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
