Comporium Communications of Rock Hill, S.C. has completed the acquisition of Citizens Telephone and Sylvan Valley CATV Co. of Brevard, N.C.
The ownership takes effect Dec. 1. The deal was first announced last January. The companies did not disclose the terms of the deal.
Citizens Telephone provides service to 20,000 local telephone access lines and more than 6,000 cable TV subscriber homes within Transylvania County, near Asheville.
Citizens employs about 80 people and is the 10th-largest local exchange telephone company in North Carolina. Comporium's chief operating officer, Glenn McFadden, will have primary responsibility for the newly acquired company. Comporium vice presidents Greg Austin and David Simril will lead transition teams, according to the company.
