NESN Instigates Hockey Talk

New Series Takes On National Hockey Topics

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 12/2/2008 7:59:00 AM

NESN Thursday will debut The Instigators, a weekly show featuring Boston Bruins’ studio analyst Mike Milbury, color analyst Andy Brickley and play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards debating and discussing the most controversial national hockey topics of the day.

The series drops the puck Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. ET on the regional sports network and will air at both 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. each week.

“This is a breakthrough show for hockey fans and an opportunity to expand our commitment to the coverage of the sport,” Joel Feld, NESN’s executive vice president of programming and executive producer, said in a statement. “Mike, Andy and Jack are nationally respected hockey minds, and with The Instigators we are giving them an exciting new forum in a weekly half hour format to voice their opinions on the NHL.”

Network officials said the panel will tackle national topics like hirings and firings, rules controversies, surprise teams, and favorite NHL tough guys and personalities.

NESN is owned by the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins and delivered to over 4 million homes throughout the six-state New England region and nationally via DirecTV and Dish Network.
