Current Media Promotes Drake To COO

Will Take Over TV Network Operations As Well As New Media Division

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 12/5/2008 5:36:00 AM

Current Media has named Joanna Drake Earl as its new chief operating officer.

Earl will continue to report to CEO and co-founder Joel Hyatt and will assume responsibility of the company’s TV network operations in addition to retaining oversight of Current’s new media division.

Earl previously served as president of new media for the San Francisco-based company where she oversaw the architecture, creation and management of the company’s Web-based participation platform. She also successfully oversaw the launch of Current.com, which has grown from 240,000 monthly unique users to 7 million unique users per month in one year.

“Joanna’s passion, dedication and leadership have been instrumental in Current’s growth,” Hyatt said in a statement. “Joanna’s extensive history and successful track record with the company, combined with her great strategic and operational leadership, will be tremendous assets in her new capacity.”
