Reality Series Will Return to Atlanta

By Linda Moss -- Multichannel News, 12/15/2008 7:17:00 AM

Bravo has renewed The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which follows five women as they juggle their burgeoning careers and busy home lives with the whirl of the south's hottest city, officials said Monday.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta was the network's first docu-drama ever to crack the 2 million-viewer mark among adults 18 to 49. The series averaged 1.13 million adults 18 to 49 and 1.495 million total viewers, with the reunion special garnering the title as the highest-rated Real Housewives franchise telecast ever among adults 18-49 and total viewers, with 2.055 million adults 18-49 and 2.817 million total viewers tuning in.

Online, The Real Housewives of Atlanta site generated www.BravoTV.com's best-ever video streams for a freshman series, surpassing site totals for all prior Real Housewives’ seasons and series, with 4.5 million video streams and 29.2 million page views.

"The level of engagement on Atlanta far surpasses a typical series on cable or broadcast, with our viewers deepening their connection to the show through live wireless chats, daily blogs and additional footage online," Bravo general manager Frances Berwick said in a prepared statement. "This, along with the colorful personalities of our housewives, helped drive the series to a watercooler sensation."
