Sci Fi Thursday confirmed that it has ordered a sixth season of its hit series Ghost Hunters, a second season of Ghost Hunters International and a six-episode order of a new pilot tentatively called Ghost Hunters: New Generation.
In addition to the Ghost Hunter franchises, Sci Fi has also enlisted Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Films and Television—the production company responsible for the Ghost Hunter franchise—to develop what the network calls “an entirely new series” scheduled to debut sometime in 2010.
Since its debut in 2004, Ghost Hunters has been a ratings hit. Last season, it averaged 2.8 million viewers each week. Ghost Hunters International has averaged 2.3 million total viewers a week since its January 2008 debut. Both series are scheduled to return in March and January 2009, respectively.
