AT&T keeps enlarging its IPTV footprint, announcing the availability of U-verse TV this week in three former BellSouth territories: Birmingham, Ala.; Columbia, S.C.; and parts of middle Tennessee.
The telco has signed up 1 million subscribers as of mid-December for the DSL-delivered video service, but U-verse TV has been slower to pick up steam compared with its telco peer, Verizon's FiOS TV.
In Tennessee, AT&T has said it will provide service within two years to about 60 cities, including Chattanooga, Memphis, Knoxville and some rural areas.
Last week AT&T debuted U-verse TV in two other former BellSouth regions, Raleigh, N.C., and Orlando, Fla. The company completed its $86 billion acquisition of BellSouth in December 2006.
