LG Brings YouTube, CinemaNow Content to DVD Players
Deals Expand Internet Video Available Through Blu-ray Disc Players

LG Electronics has inked deals with movie distributor CinemaNow and Google’s YouTube to provide access to their video content through its line of Internet-enabled Blu-ray Disc DVD players.
LG's first Network Blu-ray Disc player, the BD300, already lets Netflix subscribers access some 12,000 titles through Netflix’s streaming service. Access to CinemaNow and YouTube will be available on LG’s new line Network Blu-ray Disc players, to be detailed next week at CES, in the first half of 2009.
"As millions of U.S. consumers view and download movies or TV shows through the Internet, they are demanding easier ways to access content and more home entertainment options," LG director of product development Tim Alessi said in a statement.
CinemaNow, a subsidiary of Sonic Solutions, offers more than 14,000 titles for rental or purchase from major movie studios, broadcast and cable TV producers, and independent film studios.
Through the deal with YouTube, users of LG Network Blu-ray Players will be able to stream any of the millions of Web videos on the site directly to the DVD player for viewing on their television. The players will provide searching, thumbnail previews and multiple screen size viewing options for the YouTube content.
