Bob Costas will host a conversation with Don Larsen and Yogi Berra, the battery mates for the only perfect game in World Series history, the showcase event of the first day of MLB Network.
The celebrated sportscaster’s discussion with Larsen, the New York Yankee righty who tossed a perfecto in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, and Berra, the Hall of Fame catcher, will be interspersed throughout the telecast, which airs on Jan. 1 at 7 p.m.
MLB Network, the largest cable network launch in history with some 50 million homes, throws its first pitch at 6 p.m. with its inaugural Hot Stove Report.
Costas is one of three legendary baseball television personalities that will air on MLB Network on New Years Day. Hall of Fame broadcasters Mel Allen and Vin Scully called the game, which will air on television for the first time since its original broadcast.
