Fisher Reaches Retrans Deal With Charter
Agreement Follows Pact With Comcast; Stations Remain Off Dish

Pacific Northwest broadcaster Fisher Communications reached its second retransmission-consent deal this week, this one involving Charter Communications, officials said Friday.
"Fisher Communications and Charter Communications are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement in principle for continued carriage of Fisher's television stations on Charter's cable systems," the companies said in a joint statement.
The deal includes seven Fisher TV stations: KOMO-TV in Seattle, Wash.; KATU-TV in Portland, Ore.; KVAL-TV in Eugene, Ore.; KIMA-TV in Yakima, Wash.; KPIC-TV in Roseburg, Ore.; KCBY-TV in Coos Bay-North Bend, Ore.; and KEPR-TV in Pasco, Wash.
On Wednesday Fisher said it has reached an agreement in principle for a new retransmission-consent deal with Comcast.
However, the broadcaster hasn’t reached a new contract yet with Dish Network, which dropped nine of its stations Dec. 18 after their old agreement expired.
In other news, Cox Communications got a retransmission-consent deal extension from Raycom Media, and both sides are still negotiating, according to Cox spokesman David Grabert. Raycom stations such as WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, La., and WWBT-TV in Richmond, Va., might have been pulled from Cox systems Jan. 1 if an extension hadn’t been granted.
