After nearly a week, KTKA-TV, the ABC affiliate serving Topeka, Kan., is back on Dish Network.
The satellite service and Free State Communications LLC, which owns KTKA, reached a retransmission-consent accord late Jan. 7, restoring the station to Dish customers. Dish dropped KTKA on Dec. 31 at midnight after the parties could not reach a retransmission-consent agreement.
This deal, terms of which were not disclosed, will soon give Dish customers access to KTKA’s high-definition signal for the first time.
“We’re very pleased that Dish Network and KTKA were able to work together to find a reasonable solution for both companies that increases the value Dish Network customers receive,” said Free State COO Patrick Knorr in a statement.
Free State is a wholly owned subsidiary of The World Co., parent of Lawrence, Kan.-based Sunflower Broadband.
