ESPN Deportes Signs Boxing Legend for New Show

ESPN Deportes on Jan. 23 will premiere Golpe a Golpe, a half-hour weekly live news and analysis boxing program to be co-hosted by legendary boxer Marco Antonio Barrera and SportsCenter anchor Jorge Eduardo Sánchez.
Described by ESPN Deportes as its first news and analysis show fully dedicated to the world of boxing, Golpe a Golpe will air every Friday at 8 p.m. (ET.) ESPN Deportes’ own boxing expert, David Faitelson, will contribute with weekly reports.
Golpe a Golpe is expected to extend beyond television to include radio, online and wireless, with ESPNdeportes.com dedicating a special page to the program featuring weekly chats, blogs and video segments with Barrera exclusively produced for online.
“This is the beginning of an exciting new era for boxing on ESPN Deportes,” said Lino Garcia, general manager, ESPN Deportes, in a prepared statement. “Boxing is one of the most popular sports among Hispanics, and with this program we hope to fill the void for consistent boxing news and information on Spanish-language television.”
