No Sense In This Delay
(RE: “Rockefeller Working DTV Delay Bill, Multichannel.com, Jan. 13) Right out of the gate, [Obama transition co-chair John] Podesta and [Sen. Jay] Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) are showing their incompetence. Why don’t they do their homework first before they start to confuse everyone involved? We’re only a month away from the deadline! Politicians shouldn’t be allowed to stop something that has been approved several years ago. Where were you Rockefeller? You had the chance to speak up then. Yes, you’re right... the government is very bad in doing whatever they touch! I bet Rockefeller’s going to ask for billions more to make things worse than it is now. How sad is that!

Holding Off Is Wise, Fair
I am an HD film and TV producer … so, you’d think I have every reason to support the timely switch to DTV … Every reason except reality. Delay the switch by six months. The reality is we are entering into what is close to the second Great Depression. The reality is that all of our citizens own the airwaves and even though many of the people commenting here can afford DTV converters, cable and satellite, there remain many on the lower-income sector of our economy who cannot. Cutting off television to these people during these upcoming economic times is as bad as cutting off phone service or radio reception. They need to be informed, entertained and kept in the loop of America.

NFL Should Punch Dish’s 'Ticket”
(RE: “Dish, NFL Net Both Claim Victory in Court Ruling,” Jan. 15) The NFL should eliminate the “exclusive rights” to the Sunday Ticket package from DirecTV and make it available to Dish Network. I guess the NFL does not want the extra revenue that Dish will give them. (See MLB Network and the “Extra Innings” package, also.) Charge us the same price and I bet you Dish Network’s revenue will go through the roof!
