Ira Bahr has returned to Dish Network as senior vice president and chief marketing officer.
Bahr, who served in a similar capacity several years ago, rejoins Dish today, succeeding Jessica Insalaco as the satellite provider's top marketer. Insalaco has been leading the company's marketing team from New York City over the past six months, after moving back to the Big Apple for family reasons, according to Dish officials. Bahr and Insalaco are working on a transition plan that will wind down over the next couple of months.
Bahr's arrival continues the shuffling in Dish's executive suite that in recent months has seen David Shull take over for Eric Sahl as senior vice president of programming and director of government affairs Lori Kalani assume many of the duties of former lobbyist David Goodfriend.
Bahr, who will report to executive vice president Jim DeFranco, most recently was chief operating officer of New Frontier Media, the adult pay-per-view and video-on-demand service provider. Previously, Bahr has served in a number of positions at Dish, including senior vice president of marketing and president of interactive game channel BingoTV, owned by EchoStar.
From 1998-2000, Mr. Bahr was senior vice president, marketing, alliances, and communications at Sirius Satellite Radio, where he forged the company's relationships with automobile and radio manufacturers, was instrumental in securing over $1 billion in capital finance, and authored the company's name change from CD Radio
From 1985 to 1998, Bahr was a senior executive at BBDO Worldwide, the ad and marketing giant, where he developed domestic and international marketing plans and communications programs for such clients as FedEx, GE, and Pepsi Cola
