TBS, Nickelodeon, Net NAACP Image Awards

ABC Family, HBO and TV One All Winners

The cable industry was well represented at the NAACP Image Awards event Thursday night (Feb. 12), with TBS  and Nickelodeon earning multiple awards in several television categories.
TBS' House of Payne won four NAACP Image Awards -- which celebrate African-American achievement in entertainment  - including best comedy series, according to the civil rights organization, which this year is celebrating its 100th anniversary

ABC FamilyIn fact Payne, cable's most watch original live-action comedy series, won four of five comedy categories, including best actor (LaVan Davis), supporting actor (Lance Gross), and supporting actress (Keshia Knight Pulliam).

House Of Payne's impressive Image Awards showing came on the heels of an additional five nominations for NAMIC Vision Awards, which honors achievements in television programming diversity.
Nickelodeon did sweep the children's category, with Dora The Explorer notching a win for best children's program and actress Keke Palmer winning best performance in a youth/children's series or special for her series, True Jackson.
Other cable networks garnering NAACP Image Awards include ABC Family, which won best directing in a dramatic series for an Ernest Dickerson-directed episode of Lincoln Heights; TV One, which took honors in the news/information category for its special In Conversation: Michelle Obama Interview and HBO, which grabbed an award for best documentary for The Black List.
House Of Payne creator Tyler Perry and actress Halle Berry hosted the awards show, which was aired on Fox Broadcasting.
