Series Makes Important Start For Comedy Central
'Important Things With Demetri Martin' Is Net's Top Bow Since 'Chappelle's Show' In 2003

Comedy Central's new series Important Things with Demetri Martin got off to an important start on Feb. 11.
The new series became the most-watched series premiere on the network with some 2.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That was the network's best newcomer since the bow of Chappelle's Show in 2003 drew 2.5 million watchers.
Important Things also averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18 to 49, tying the debuts of Reno 911! in 2003 and Lewis Black's Root of All Evil last year for the service's top debut with that debut.
On Feb. 11, Important Things was the No. 1 program in primetime among men 18 to 24, beating American Idol, and was first in all of cable among guys 18 to 34
The series premiere was the highest-rated and most-watched telecast in 2009 on Comedy Central among men 18 to 34 (3.6 rating; 1 million viewers) and guys 18 to 24 (6.6 rating; 800,000 viewers).
Important Things built on its South Park repeat lead in by 108% among adults 18 to 49, according to network officials
