Spike TV wrestled strong ratings performances from two recent TNA pro wrestling and Ultimate Fighting Championship events.
Spike's Feb. 20 series telecast from the Nashville-based TNA pro wrestling outfit drew a 1.9 million viewers, the most in 359 TNA shows on the men's-targeted network, according to Spike officials.
That viewership number was eclipsed the next night as the network's live coverage of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's UFC 95 event garnered 2.4 million viewers. More importantly for Spike, the show delivered more men 18 to 34 (634,000) and 18 to 49 (1.24 million) than any broadcast or cable show during its 9 p.m. to midnight time slot, according to the network.
In addition, more than 3 million viewers tuned into the main event between Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez and Joe "Daddy" Stevenson, both former champs of Spike's long-running Ultimate Fighter reality series.
