Starz Will 'Crash' Again

Premium Network Orders Retooled Second Season From Lionsgate TV

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 2/25/2009 7:16:24 AM MT

Starz will remain on its Crash course, although the path will veer somewhat during the series' sophomore season.

The premium service, which took its first major stab a dramatic series with the show based on the theatrical of the same name, has ordered 13 episodes from Lionsgate TV.
For its second season, Crash will be led by Ira Steven Behr (USA Network's The 4400) as executive producer/show runner. Series creator/exec producer Glen Mazzara, who served as showrunner for the first season, will remain on board as a consulting producer.
Behr and James DeMonaco will exec produce the second season with Paul Haggis, who wrote the 2004 best picture-winning film, and Bob Yari.
Starz continues to build its base of original series. On March 20, it will bow a Friday night comedy block,

comprising new half-hour comedy Party Down, which follows an LA catering team, whose six members are looking for their big break in Tinseltown, and the second season of Head Case, starring Alexandra Wentworth as Dr. Elizabeth Goode, shrink to the Hollywood stars.

A 13-episode remake of Roman slave saga Spartacus is in the works and scheduled for a fall debut.
