Hallmark Channel goes golden on Sunday.
The family friendly network will welcome four south Florida seniors, The Golden Girls, to its lineup with a marathon on March 1.
Hallmark will run 18 hours of the sitcom classic, starring Beatrice Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White and Estelle Getty, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. The show will then settle into its regular lineup positions on the service: beginning March 2, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and midnight to 2 a.m.; beginning March 7, Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and starting March 8, Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Golden Girls marathon is one of three programming stunts Hallmark plans for the month.
On March 21, it has scheduled a full afternoon and evening from the "Hallmark Hall of Fame Collection," including the premiere of Plainsong, starring Aidan Quinn (Benny & Joon), Rachel Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters) and America Ferrera (Ugly Betty).
The following Saturday, Hallmark will rev up a 13-hour "Super Adventure Movie Marathon," featuring the service's best original movies in the genre, plus the network's premiere of Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Rick Schroder (24) and Peter Fonda (Easy Rider).
