Starz Gets ‘Party' Started Early

Previews Of Comedy Series Will Appear On On-Demand, Web, TV Platforms

Starz will team with cable and satellite distributors to give viewers an early look at its new original comedy series Party Down.

Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, Mediacom Communications, Insight Communications and DirecTV will all offer a sneak preview of Party Down -- which follows a Los Angeles-based catering team whose six members are looking for their big break in Tinseltown -- a week before its March 20 debut on the premium service.

Charter's On Demand and Charter.net services; Comcast's Fancast online offering; Cox's On Demand service; Mediacom's On Demand service; and Insight's Insight.com will offer the first episode of Party Down, as well as an episode of sophomore series Head Case for on March 13, according to Starz.

DirecTV will offer sneak previews of both series on March 13 and 14 as part of a two-day Starz preview on its 101 Network. Head Case and Party Down trailers and special behind-the-scenes promotional material for the comedy series will also run as part of the preview, the satellite service said.

In addition, Charter.net customers will also have access to a fully-functional free trial of the newly-created Party Down game at www.charter.net/games_channel.

The PC-based casual game, part of a development deal between Starz Media and game producer Merscom, will also be available for download at other online portals and sites, including AOL Games, Big Fish Games, MSN Games, Oberon Games, RealArcade, Shockwave, Yahoo! Games and Starz.com at www.starz.com/originals/PartyDown/game.

In the game, players take over a team at the "Party Down" catering company and serve Hollywood elite. Players serve food, DJ at the dance floor and keep conversations going, all while waiting for their big break as a star.
