Ghost Hunters International closed its first campaign as the most-watched original reality series in Sci Fi history.
The concluding March 5 installment, an investigation at a former prison, scored a 1.6 household rating average and 2.2 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That total included 1.3 million adults 18 to 49 and 1.4 million adults 25 to 54.
For the season, Ghost Hunters International, a spin-off of the network's popular Ghost Hunters franchise, averaged a 1.7 rating and 2.3 million viewers, while its demo performances matched the aforementioned season-finale numbers.
Sci Fi officials said the network ranked as the No. 1 cable entertainment in the show's 9 p.m.-10 p.m. timeslot during the first quarter to date.
Ghost Hunters International features a squad of real-life "ghost-busters" - ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. The team travels to different international cities each week in pursuit of the truth behind bizarre supernatural claims. The crew is gearing up to head overseas later this month to begin production on the series' second season.
The fifth of the original Ghost Hunters, featuring lead investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, will premiere March 11 at 9 p.m., with an investigation at the historic Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia.
