New York cable investment banker Waller Capital said it named long-time executive Garrett Baker president and separately announced a handful of promotions and new hires.
Baker joined Waller Capital in 1998 from Bear Stearns, where he worked at that firm's M& A and Restructuring groups. Baker has led Waller's cable efforts since 2003 and has been involved in a number of successful deals, including deals with Bright House Communications, Charter Communications and Suddenlink Communications. Baker will continue to perform his M&A duties in his new position.
Last year Baker was named by Multichannel News as one of its "40 Under 40," top cable executives.
"Garrett has been a leader of our firm for over a decade, and we are thrilled he will be taking a greater role," Waller Capital chairman and founder John Waller III said in a statement. "He has proven himself successful in building long-term client relationships, completing complex transactions and working tirelessly to grow our firm. Garrett has consistently been the most active and successful M&A advisor in the cable sector, and we look forward to continuing our success together."
In addition to Baker's appointment, Waller Capital also announced three other promotions: Jeffrey Brandon to managing director; Kenneth Clausman to director, Michael Cohen to associate and Christopher Erwin to Associate.
Brandon joined Waller in 2006 from Bear Stearns where he was an investment banker in the media and entertainment group; Clausman joined Waller in 2005 from Veronis Suhler Stevenson where he advised on MA&A transactions.
New hires include managing director Brian Stengel, who joins Waller from Morgan Stanley to lead its growing digital media practice.
