'Secret Life' Ends Rookie Season On High Nielsen Note
ABC Family Teen Drama Nabs 4.5 Million Viewers

The first season finale of The Secret Life of the American Teenager averaged 4.5 million viewers Monday night, matching the fall ender's performance.
The March 23 airing matched the season 1A concluder relative to total audience, and became the series second-most-watched installment ever against persons 12 to 34 (2.9 million), 18 to 34 (1.4 million) and 18 to 49 (2 million), according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The episode was also the network's best ever show among one of ABC Family's key demos, females 12 to 34.
The Secret Life of an American Teenager, which is slated to begin its second season in the summer, topped a fresh installment of The CW's Gossip Girl across an array of measures: doubling its viewership; beating it by 50% among the 18-to-34 set; 43% among adults 18 to 49; and 123% against viewers 12 to 34, according to ABC Family officials.
All told, Secret Life beat Gossip Girl among total viewers, watchers 12 to 34 and females 12 to 34 in all of their six head-to-head meetings this winter.
Season to date, Secret Life ranks as cable's top original series among viewers ansd females 12 to 34.
