Drake Names Huppertz CEO
Jeff Huppertz Takes Helm at Cable-Equipment Supplier

Cable TV equipment manufacturer R.L. Drake announced it has named Jeff Huppertz as president and CEO.
Drake's current CEO, Ron Wysong, will step down after 45 years with the company. He will continue to serve as chairman.
"We feel extremely fortunate to attract someone of Jeff's expertise, and I'm confident in his ability to build upon Drake's American legacy and propel the company forward through this economy in a highly competitive industry," Wysong said in a statement.
Huppertz (pictured, left) joined Drake in October 2008 as chief operating officer. Most recently he was vice president of marketing and business development at wideband silicon startup BroadLogic, which has received strategic investments from Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Bright House Networks.
In addition, Huppertz has worked for Scientific Atlanta, where he helped launch the cable industry's first digital set-top as part of Time Warner Cable's Full Service Network.
Drake, based in Franklin, Ohio, sells communications systems and video engineering components, including Drake Digital headends, to cable, government and hospitality industries.
The company has been working with Beyond Broadband Technology, a consortium of three small operators that has designed a low-cost digital set-top box with the goal of letting cable providers convert to all-digital video.
