Season-Four Finale Marks 'Jon & Kate Plus 8's Biggest Episode Ever

Installment Draws 4.6 Million Viewers, Sets Stage For TLC Newcomer Table For 12

TLC's family fare played bigger than the broods it presented on Monday night
The fourth-season finale of Jon & Kate Plus 8 on March 23 was the series most-watched show ever, relative to viewers and a number of key demos. The show also served as a strong lead-in to the premiere of Table For 12 that night.
The season concluder of Jon & Kate Plus 8 averaged a 3.4 household rating and 4.6 million viewers from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 23, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Also included in that total were the series best results among persons 25 to 54 (2.37 million of those viewers), women 25 to 54 (1.76 million), persons 18 to 49 (2.72 million) and women of that age (2.08 million).
The installment ranked as ad-supported cable's top show among households, women 18 to 34, 18 to 49 and 25 to 54 and persons 18 to 49 in that time slot.
In the process, Jon & Kate beat NBC's Heroes and The CW's One Tree Hill in women 18 to 49 and women 18 to 34 (1.09 million) in the time period, according to TLC officials. It also outpointed CBS's Two and a Half Men and Rules of Engagement and Fox's 24 with the aforementioned young female demo.
As for newcomer Table For 12, the series premiered with a pair of half-hour episodes in the 10 p.m. hour. Together, they averaged a 1.3 household rating and 1.61 million viewers, including 782,000 persons 25 to 54, 608,000 women 25 to 54, 1 million persons 18 to 49 and 493,000 women 18 to 34. The women 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 results represented time slot gains of 164% and 188%, respectively, over the prior six-week average.
